Lost and Found

Updated: Apr 3

What do I keep losing? What do I keep finding? Ethereal things. Abilities,

possibilities, opportunities that keep disappearing in a slow and steady, haunting,

foreboding, irretrievable manner.

OOPS….there goes my ability to run a 10K marathon. WAIT….the possibility and

practicality of going back to school for a degree in pediatric medicine doesn’t seem

very realistic anymore. The list of “Maybe I’ll Do (fill-in-the-blank) Someday” is

slowly dwindling.

Time has taken those ideas and dreams and time has gone with them. Lost time.

Time lost. With every heartbeat I’m moving forward and losing time.

I need to re-focus, re-frame, re-evaluate. The other side of lost is found, and the

landscape I am now traveling through has treasures for the finding. Intangible

treasures. Treasures that can be sensed and felt. Treasures that infuse my soul.

I am finding wisdom, perspective, and permission. Permission to say what I feel.

Permission to bend the rules, break the rules, ignore the rules.

It's not over…this losing and finding. My map has been mapped, although the

destination isn’t clear. The proverbial “they” say that it’s the journey, not the

destination. So as I lose time with every step, every breath, every heartbeat I

find abilities, possibilities and opportunities that still await me.

I just need my reading glasses to see them.
